Art Charm Exchange Reveal and Auction

Welcome to the reveal of the Art Charms I've made for this year's swap and auction for Beads of Courage. The hostess of this event is Jennifer Stout Cameron at Glassaddiction blog.

  The theme for this year was: soar.
  Searching for ideas online I've found a mantra of a fiction character that sounded just perfect:
"I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar!"
   Can you guess who that character was? Hoban "Wash" Washburne, the pilot of Serenity, a smuggling ship of the Firefly series.
As my favorite part of Autumn are the colors of a changing nature, I've decided to make leaves ... in three colors: reddish, yellow and green.

 The charms are made of polymer clay, textured with real leaves and formed by hands (no molds were used), then colored with chalks and acrylics and varnished to a high shine.

 The charms are available at a Charity Auction for Beads of Courage on eBay. All the money raised will go to Beads of Courage: the program is a resilience-based intervention designed to support and strengthen children and families coping with serious illness.
  Buying a charm at the auction you can get a double satisfaction: you receive a piece of art and you help seriously ill children at the same time. Isn't that great??!!

Please visit also the blogs of the others participants, you won't regret!!

Art Charm Exchange 2014 - Sneak Peek

 Oh my ... So many months passed without any news from me!!! Well, it was a difficult and busy period at work (it still is) and I've had almost no time for creating. However, there are some events I won't miss for amy reason. On of them is the Jen Cameron's Art Charm Exchange. If you want to know more about it, just follow this link.

  This is my third time participating in this Beads of Courage Charm Swap and Auction and I really like both parts of the event - swapping art charms with other artists and donating a charm for the charity auction of the event.
  The auction will begin on November 24th and the reveal blog hop of the charms will be on November 25th.

 Here's the sneak peek of my charms:

  Stay tuned and come back then for the reveal and more important - for the auction!

Art Charm Exchange 2013 Reveal and Auction!!!

  It's finally time for the reveal of all the art charms made by 38 participants for the 2013 Art Charm Exchange benefiting Beads of Courage and hosted by Jennifer Cameron of Glass Addictions.

  Let me give you some information about the event, first. Each participant had to make 10 charms +1 (total of 11 charms). The theme for this charm swap was “love”. It didn’t have to say the word love or have a heart, it just needed to represent something that means love to us.

 Every participant has received one of her own charms back, plus 9 charms of the other participants, randomly chosen by Jennifer.

   The extra charm (the +1) of each participant is auctioned to benefit Beads of Courage - starting from today!!!

  All the ideas that came to my mind when thinking about what to do, were heart shaped, so I had no choice, but creating a heart. a little bit of gold, a little bit of red and a little bit of shine ... here's my art charm (made from polymer clay with a swarovski crystal):

  I've named the charms FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART - Love has the magic to find the shining in every human being ... When you let the outer shell of your heart open, there's the shining inner part that gives and accepts love unconditionally.

~~~~~
  Do you want to see what was in the package I've received back? I'm sure you do, so let me show you! I'll let the pictures speak by themselves.
  At the bottom of this post you can find the list of the blogs of all the participants and learn more about the creative process or meaning of each charm. I just can't wait to see all the others I've not received!!!
~~~~~

 And NOW just go HERE and bid!!! These charms make GREAT gifts for Christmas, Hanukkah, hostesses, birthdays, etc.

~~~~~
The complete list of participants in this year's Art charm exchange is just below.
Don't forget - you have the opportunity to own one or more of the charms you've seen here or on the other blogs and at the same time contribute for a very good cause - because every penny bid goes to Beads of Courage Programme for children with serious illness!!!
Art Charm Exchange - Update and Teaser
-->  If you are looking for the Octoberfest 2013 reveal, please go here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  Jennifer Cameron of Glass Addictions is hosting the 2013 Art Charm Exchange benefiting Beads of Courage. I've participated last year and couldn't miss this year's event.

  My art charms were sent out in time, but were delivered three working days after they should be, according to Slovenian Post delivery period and what I've paid for. Fortunately, Jen was so kind to wait two more days for them.

  Jen already sorted all of the 500 (!!!) charms and sent them out to 38 participants from all over the United States, Canada, England, France and Slovenia (me) - as you can see on her blog post

  The ladies in the US already received their packages and they are already screaming and enjoying them, the others (including me) have to be patient and wait, wait, wait ...

  However, this was only the first part of the event. The second, more important for the charity part, is going to happen on November 15th. All the participants will present on their blogs the charms they've created for this event and the auction to benefit Beads of Courage begins that day.

  I want to give you a little teaser of what I've made - the theme was love and as you can see, my charms are a little gold, a little red, a little shiny .... but you'll have to come back on November 15th to see the clear picture:

  I'd like to finish with the words by Jen Cameron, the hostess and soul of this event:
Last year we raised $600 for Beads of Courage! I would love to raise $1000 this year…. These charms make GREAT gifts for Christmas, Hanukkah, hostesses, birthdays, etc. So please save your pennies, and mark the date on your calendar and bid often and bid high. You get art charms, and every penny bid goes to the kids who get Beads of Courage strands.

  See you on November 15th!!!

Be happy,
Alenka

Art Charm Exchage Reveal

 And finally it's time for the reveal of the ART CHARM BLOG HOP, hosted by Jen Cameron of Glass Addictions.

  The idea of the blog hop was to make some art charms to swap with other participants, more exactly the ones within your group of 10 people, and to make one extra art bead to be auctioned to benefit Beads of Courage. The theme was laughter.

 Thinking about laughter there are several things that put a smile on my face, like my kids, a good joke, a sunny day, a delicious cake ... and many more. This was the easier part of the project. The most difficult part was transforming any of these concepts in a small art object.

  From the beginning I knew I would use polymer clay, as it's the medium I'm most familiar with. And I knew I would use the colours that make me happy - red, orange, yellow, and some pearl and white for a better contrast, to make them more vibrant.

  Keeping the bunches of clay in my hands and playing with them at a certain moment associated me with a clown. That's it! Clowns make kids and adults laugh! Not wanting to make a reproduction of clown heads, I remembered the technique called "Natasha Beads" and it seemed just perfect.

  A little of abracadabra and here are my art beads - I've called them Clowny beads:

  Let me introduce the most important fact of this blog hop, now. If you would like to become the owner of an art bead of any of the participants in this blog hop (the whole list at the bottom) and at the same time donate for the BEADS OF COURAGE, a program designed to support and strengthen children and families coping with serious illness - the auction starts today (November 12, 2012) around 3pm eastern standard time here:

  The participants from my group
(Their charms are already in my hands and I love all of them. Can't wait to read the stories behind them :-). I'll treasure them for now, but in the future they will probably find a place in a very special piece of jewellery):

Another Lucky Thursday / Še en srečni četrtek

  Lately it seems Thursday is my lucky day. Two weeks ago on Thursday I received two packages from US with two gifts, and this Thursday my mailbox was full again - with two other packages for me. :-)

  The first one was my mystery gift from Sandra Young - I won it participating in her Pay it forward giveaway. Sandra told me when she sent it, but I had no clue what was in.

  She sent me a pretty pair of earrings and a nice greeting card with a typical scenery of Vancouver Island. Thank you Sandra! :-D
Hvala, Sandra! :-D

  The second package was from Jennifer Cameron and was containig the art charms of the Art Charm Blog Hop. Just to remind you: each participant had to make make enough charms for everyone in her group AND one extra so that a set of charms can be auctioned to benefit Beads of Courage, a total of 11 charms.

  Well, come back Monday (November 12) on the reveal day to see the story about the charm I made and the charms I have received.

  Monday is also the day of the auction for the Beads of Courage. If you would like to participate you're welcome and here's the link:
  V ponedeljek bo tudi avkcija vseh obeskov v korist Beads of Courage - če želite sodelovati, ste dobrodošli, najdete pa jo na naslednjem linku:
